DLA Piper is to cut 175 support roles in the UK, following a three-month redundancy consultation.

The cuts hit the firm's IT, finance, HR, marketing, business development and secretarial teams in the UK and come in the wake of the launch of a business services centre in Warsaw in November 2015.

The firm announced it was putting 200 jobs at risk when it launched a redundancy consultation on 31 May. The consultation resulted in a decision to cut 180 jobs, however one resignation and four internal redeployments bring the total down to 175.

A spokesperson said the final number of redundancies may be lower as individual consultations are still ongoing.

DLA employs 1,100 UK support staff and the job cuts account for 16% of that total.

DLA brought in redeployment company Renovo to assist with the redundancy process. For a three-month period, employees will be given access to a personal career coach to help assess their future options.

Those affected will be offered support for six months to help with issues such as interviews, CV building and job searches. They will also have access to emotional and wellbeing support for six months.

The firm's COO, Andrew Darwin, said: "Our collective consultation has now concluded and we can confirm that we will be going ahead with our proposals to reduce the size of our IT, finance, HR, marketing & BD, and secretarial teams in the UK, as part of our plans to operate more effectively on a global basis and improve the quality, consistency and efficiency of the way we deliver our services to our clients."
