Reed Smith has shaken up its non-US management structure by appointing finance partner Tamara Box as its Europe and Middle East managing partner.

Roger Parker, who has acted as managing partner for Europe, Middle East and Asia for the past nine years, will now step into a newly created role of Asia-Pacific managing partner.

The firm's partnership approved the promotion of Box from her role as Reed Smith's global head of its finance industry group to lead Europe and the Middle East. As part of her new position, Box will have a seat on the firm's global management committee.

New York-based Ed Estrada, former head of strategy, is now in charge of the finance industry group.

Box joined the firm in 2012 from Berwin Leighton Paisner, where she was head of international structured finance. Prior to that, she was a partner at Hogan Lovells.

Parker was the managing partner of City firm Richards Butler, which merged with Reed Smith in 2007, at which point he was appointed as Reed Smith's managing partner for its legal services businesses outside of the US.

Box said: "Our global industry and practice approach remains but now with a greater regional focus, to allow even more emphasis on the local development and execution of our strategy, and our interaction with clients. I look forward to further building our presence and key industry sectors in the region."

Parker added: "We have continued to grow in Asia-Pacific, with 150 lawyers now based across Astana, Beijing, Hong Kong, Shanghai and Singapore. It is a key market for us and I look forward to an increased focus on the region and our market-leading practices there."
