Standard Bank Offshore Group head of legal Lionel Woodward is leaving to join Capita Asset Services, after six years at the offshore arm of the South African bank.

Woodward will join Capita Asset Services – part of FTSE 100 company Capita – at the end of the month, taking up the role of head of legal risk and compliance for its corporate and private clients business.

Capita Asset Services provides financial outsourcing services to institutional, corporate, financial, fund and private clients across the world.

In the new role, Woodward will have responsibility for the company's corporate and fiduciary services businesses in Jersey, Luxembourg, Amsterdam, London, Switzerland and Hungary. He will work closely with Matt Claxton, CEO of the corporate and private client solutions business, and Chris Marsden, divisional legal director of Capita Asset Services.

Prior to joining the South African-based Standard Bank, Woodward worked for offshore law firm Mourant Ozannes. Before moving to the UK in 2000 to join Berwin Leighton Paisner, he trained as a lawyer at legacy South African firm Bell Dewar.

Standard Bank focuses on investment banking and corporate lending, in addition to its commodities, foreign exchange, interest rate, credit and equity trading divisions.
