Linklaters and Sidley Austin have won lead roles on the Bank of Cyprus's listing on the London Stock Exchange.

The Bank, which had €22.4bn in total assets as of September 2016, was admitted to the main market of the London Stock Exchange (LSE) and the main market of the Cyprus Stock Exchange today (19 January).

US firm Sidley acted for longstanding client the Bank of Cyprus on the listing, fielding a team led by London corporate co-head Stephen Blackshaw.

HSBC acted as adviser to the London listing and Cyprus Investment and Securities Corporation as the lead manager in relation to the listing in Cyprus.

Linklaters is acting for HSBC, with a team led by capital markets partners Jason Manketo and corporate partner John Lane, while Nicosia-based firm Chryssafinis & Polyviou LLC handled the Cypriot law aspects of the listing.

Manketo said: "Bank of Cyprus's listing on the London Stock Exchange sends a strong signal to the market about investor confidence in the UK's capital markets despite Brexit."

The role for Linklaters comes after the firm advised on the IPO of medical device maker ConvaTec last October, in one of the biggest flotations since the Brexit vote. Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer acted for the company, while Linklaters advised the banks.

In April, Manketo and Lane also teamed up to advise the underwriters on the flotation of UK brick maker Forterra on the LSE.

Freshfields and Linklaters are currently advising on the LSE's merger talks with German counterpart Deutsche Boerse.
