Former King & Wood Mallesons (KWM) partners have been sent a second email reminding them of their ongoing responsibilities to client matters ahead of an inspection of the offices by the Solicitors Regulation Authority (SRA) tomorrow.

Ashfords head of professional and financial risk Sam Palmer, who was brought in by Quantuma to manage the billing and collection of remaining files and the allocation of client monies during the administration, sent the email to all ex-partners earlier this week.

Palmer first wrote to former partners last week, requesting that they return to the 10 Queens St Place building to put their offices and closed client files in good order ahead of a deadline for closing the building.

Concerns had been raised about confidential client information discarded in partners' offices after their departures for other firms.

After Palmer initially wrote to former partners, a number returned to the office to clear up, but a source close to the matter has said there is still a significant amount to do.

The SRA is due to inspect the office tomorrow (27 January).

Former partners have also been asked to return all electronic devices that may contain confidential information, in order for them to be wiped.

The legacy SJ Berwin business entered administration on 17 January. Earlier this week (23 January), administrator Quantuma released a creditors report that includes details of the sums raised by the break-up and sale of the business, and also sheds light on the failed efforts to secure a single-firm takeover at the end of last year.
