DAC Beachcroft has replaced King & Wood Mallesons (KWM) on the Royal London Mutual Insurance Society's real estate panel.

The appointment comes as a result of the firm's hire of KWM counsel Helen Murcott, who has joined DAC Beachcroft as a partner in its real estate group. At KWM, she played a lead role on the firm's work for the insurance group.

The Royal London Mutual Insurance Society is the largest mutual life, pensions and investment company in the UK. It has group funds under management of more than £100bn and employs in excess of 3,000 people.

Murcott, who joined legacy SJ Berwin in 2006 from Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer, works with clients such as institutional and overseas real estate investors and developers. She also acts on HQ relocations and has experience advising on structured real estate transactions and real estate finance.

DAC Beachcroft real estate head Robert Lee said: "Helen brings with her extensive knowledge of the real estate sector and an impressive portfolio, and I have no doubt that she will be a significant asset to the firm in the years to come."

A number of firms have secured client wins on the back of KWM Europe's collapse. The Crown Estate recently chose to appoint Berwin Leighton Paisner as its primary legal adviser for its central London portfolio, after historically using KWM and legacy SJ Berwin for much of its real estate work.

KWM real estate partner Simon Tager, who was the key relationship partner for the property company, has now moved to Addleshaw Goddard.

US firm Greenberg Traurig has also gained 10 new clients following its recent hire of six KWM London partners, including Europa Capital, Paloma Capital and Westfield.
