DLA Piper has appointed its UK finance head Martin Bartlam as international head of finance and projects, taking over from incumbent Charles Morrison, who will return to fee earning.

Bartlam will take over from Morrison as finance chief on 1 May.

Bartlam first joined DLA in 2012 from US firm Orrick Herrington & Sutcliffe, where he was managing partner of the London office between 2006 and 2010.

Meanwhile, Leeds managing partner Sarah Day is set to succeed Bartlam as UK finance head on 1 May. Projects partner Allison Page has taken over from Day as Leeds head, with her role coming into effect 1 January.

Speaking to Legal Week, Day said: "My aim is to make us one of the best respected finance practices in the UK."

The firm's UK managing partner, Sandra Wallace, said: "Sarah has done a magnificent job leading and developing the Leeds office, for which we are very grateful. We wish her all the best in her new position. Allison was a natural successor and we are confident that under Allison's leadership and vision, the Leeds office will go from strength to strength".

Earlier this month, DLA Piper also hired former Ropes & Gray London head Maurice Allen as a consultant to its finance practice. Allen retired from Ropes' partnership at the end of 2016, but will retain a consulting role at the firm in addition to his position at DLA.
