The head of RPC's in-house consultancy arm, former T-Mobile GC Julia Chain, is to leave the firm to join e-discovery and legal document services firm Millnet, alongside two other members of RPC's consulting team.

Chain has quit RPC only 18 months after joining as head of the firm's in-house consulting arm, RPC Perform. Former Royal Bank of Scotland consultant Varun Srikumar and former director of legal change at Barclays, Andrew Day, who joined RPC Perform in August and May last year respectively, are also leaving the law firm for Millnet.

Chain (pictured above) will take on the role of UK managing director of Millnet.

RPC Perform, which was launched in May 2016, provides advice to GCs on areas including the organisation and management of their in-house legal department, the management of their external legal spend, and technology.

The launch was spearheaded by Chain, who joined RPC in September 2015 as director of GC services. Previously, she worked at Huron Consulting as managing director of the legal division.

Millnet was acquired last year by US e-discovery and litigation support provider Advanced Discovery.

The focus of the team's work had begun to shift more towards technology solutions, so moving to a technology provider is a natural step for her and her team. Chain was a managing director at global consultancy group Huron Legal between November 2009 and June 2014. She joined Huron after working as general counsel of T-Mobile for nearly six years.

Before going in-house in 1998, Chain spent five years as managing partner of Garretts, the UK arm of global accountancy firm Andersen Legal, which dissolved in 2002 in the wake of the Enron scandal.
