Latham & Watkins has continued its recent run of magic circle hires in London, with the addition of Linklaters financial regulatory partner Daniel Csefalvay.

Csefalvay joins Latham after nearly a decade with Linklaters, where he made partner in 2015. He will join the US firm's corporate department and financial institutions group.

His hire is the latest in a series for the firm, as it seeks to build up in finance and corporate M&A in London.

Last year, Latham recruited Slaughter and May finance partner Sanjev Warna-kula-suriya, with the move coming hot on the heels of the hire of Allen & Overy (A&O) former banking head Stephen Kensell. Later that year, the US firm went on to hire A&O M&A partner Ed Barnett.

Meanwhile, in the financial regulatory space, the firm boosted its City capabilities with the hires of Ashurst duo Rob Moulton and Nicola Higgs.

Latham managing partner Jay Sadanandan said: "Daniel's arrival will mark another major milestone as we look to establish one of the leading financial regulatory practices in the City." She added that the firm envisages "growth potential" in London and globally for "a wide range of UK, EU and transatlantic regulatory work".

Witold Balaban, global co-chair of the firm's financial institutions group, added: "We are committed to building the preeminent integrated global financial regulatory practice with strength in the US, UK, EU, Hong Kong and Singapore."

Prior to joining Linklaters in 2008, Csefalvay worked in the financial services enforcement division of the Australian Securities & Investment Commission and Middletons – now K&L Gates – in Australia.

A Linklaters press spokesperson said: "We are extremely grateful to Daniel for the contribution he has made during his time with the firm and wish him the very best for the future."
