The club has agreed heads of terms to acquire a site at Bramley Moore Dock on the River Mersey, from property investment and development company Peel Holdings.

The deal, which will be presented to Liverpool City Council's cabinet next week, will see the council create a special purpose vehicle, which will take a lease of the new stadium from a funder and sub-lease it to the club.

Slaughters is advising Everton on all aspects of the new development, fielding a team including real estate partner Jane Edwarde, infrastructure partner Richard Todd, competition partner Isabel Taylor, corporate partner Andrew Jolly, financing partner Simon Hall and tax partner Tony Beare.

Everton's head of legal services is Chris Anderson, who was previously a corporate lawyer at Slaughters before joining the Premier League club as its first in-house lawyer in March 2014.

Liverpool City Council is being advised by DWF, while Peel Holdings is taking advice from northwest firm Brabners.

The news comes after Linklaters and Charles Russell Speechlys last year advised on the sale of 49.9% of the Premier League club to British-Iranian businessman Farhad Moshiri. Linklaters acted for Everton chairman Bill Kenwright and other selling shareholders, while Charles Russell Speechlys advised Moshiri.
