Addleshaw Goddard's GC Simon Callander is leaving the firm to head the legal team at SuperGroup, the company behind clothing brand SuperDry.

He takes over the top legal role following the departure of previous group GC Lindsay Beardsell, who left late last year after Ladbrokes Coral recruited her to lead the legal team at the newly merged business.

Callander will start his new role at the company from 1 May 2017.

Callander joined Addleshaws in March 2015 from Olswang, where he was also GC. His role at Addleshaws will be replaced internally.

At Olswang, Callander was GC and partnership secretary. He left the firm in 2015 after four years in the role, amid a shake-up of the business's leadership.

Before joining Olswang in November 2011, he worked as an interim UK GC at consumer credit reporting agency Equifax.

While at Addleshaws, Callander steered through a new partnership deed for the firm. The new deed included restrictions on the number of partner exits in a year, an extension of term lengths for both the managing partner and senior partner roles, and 'bad leaver' clauses that allow the firm to penalise partners who carry out certain behaviours when they leave.

Other recent in-house moves include Visa Europe appointing Deutsche Bank's former global strategy head Emma Slatter as its new general counsel.
