DLA Piper has added 150-lawyer Danish firm LETT to its Nordic verein, following the addition of Finnish firm Peltonen LMR last year.

The Nordic verein, which was created last year, includes firms in Norway, Sweden and Finland.

The firms are operationally integrated into DLA Piper International, the non-US arm of the firm, but remain financially independent, although they do commit to an agreed financial contribution to develop the overall Nordic business.

The addition of LETT at the end of May will increase the total size of the Nordic arm to 370 lawyers. LETT has offices in Copenhagen and Aarhus and handles work such as M&A, restructuring, litigation, real estate and pensions.

DLA Piper International chief executive Simon Levine said: "Together, the Nordic countries rank as a G20 economic entity and the region is home to some major international corporates. Many of our existing clients do business in the Nordics and by extending our presence in Denmark, we will now be able to offer them an unparalleled capability in the region and access to legal services that can meet their needs domestically, regionally and globally."

The Nordic verein is governed by a management board made up of the managing partners of its constituent firms, alongside DLA Piper International COO Andrew Darwin.

The news comes after DLA last week announced it is closing its offices in Tbilisi, Georgia and Berlin, Germany. The bulk of the Berlin team is joining DWF, while the Tbilisi team is moving to Dentons.
