Colin Passmore has been re-elected as Simmons & Simmons senior partner for a third term.

The election process kicked off at the start of this year.

Passmore was first voted into the senior partner role in 2011, and was then re-elected in August 2013. His third four-year term will begin in August.

Litigation partner Passmore, who joined the firm in 1986 and made partner in 1990, is also the relationship partner for key client Barclays.

Simmons managing partner Jeremy Hoyland was re-elected for a second term in November 2014 after an uncontested process, beginning a new four-year term in May 2015.

Passmore said: "Over the past six years, a great deal has changed for professional services, but it's clear that more change is still to come. The current market offers many challenges and many rewards and I welcome the opportunity to continue my work alongside Jeremy Hoyland and the firm's board as we build on our strengths to meet our clients' needs."

In December last year, the firm reported a 5% increase in fee income for the first six months of the 2016-17 financial year.

The firm brought in £149m between May and October 2016, up from the previous year's figure of £142m.

Simmons has made several hires during the past six months.

Last month, Olswang's former interim CEO Michael Burdon joined the firm as a partner in its intellectual property practice. In February, Simmons boosted its London office with the addition of former King & Wood Mallesons corporate partner David Parkes.

At the end of 2016, the firm recruited former UBS EMEA group general counsel Andrew Williams as a senior consultant to its City financial institutions sector.
