Allen & Overy (A&O) has made up 24 lawyers in this year's global partnership promotion round, including ten in the magic circle firm's London headquarters.

It is the firm's largest round since 2008, when it promoted 28. However, only two of the new partners are female, representing less than 10% of the intake, after six women were made up in last year's 21-strong round (29%).

This year's promotions include lawyers from 11 offices across 10 countries. Outside of London, three lawyers have been made up in both of the firm's Sydney and Hong Kong bases.

Eight of the new partners come from the firm's corporate practice, with six in banking, four in litigation, four in ICM, and one each in tax and real estate.

The 10 City lawyers comprise one woman and nine men, with three in corporate, three in banking, three in capital markets and one in real estate.

Managing partner Andrew Ballheimer said: "We've had a very busy year and are investing strongly across our network. Following a string of high profile lateral hires, it's fantastic to be able to promote some of our most senior lawyers to meet client demand.
