Travers Smith has made up four new partners, in its first all-female promotions round.

The number of new partners is down on both 2016 and 2015, when the firm promoted six and seven new partners respectively.

Female promotions are significantly up on recent years, with women making up two of last year's six-strong haul, one of the seven new partners made up in 2015, while both of the two new partners made up in 2014 were male.

The new partners in 2017 are disputes lawyer Heather Gagen, private equity lawyer Emma Havas, tax lawyer Hannah Manning and real estate lawyer Emma Pereira.

Travers senior partner Chris Hale, said: "We are excited to have our first ever female cohort of new partners. Each individual has demonstrated a strong track record of delivering an outstanding service to clients and we are confident they will each play an important part in the future success of both the teams in which they work and the firm as a whole."

The appointments take effect on 1 July.

The bulk of the UK's largest law firms have now announced their new partner promotion rounds, with DWF, Kennedys and Withers the only three UK top 30 firms outstanding.
