Kirkland & Ellis has recruited Skadden Arps Slate Meagher & Flom corporate partner Daniel Dusek for its Hong Kong office.
Dusek, a Skadden lifer, joined the firm straight out of law school in 2000. He made partner in New York in 2008 and relocated to Beijing in 2012.
His practice focuses on M&A and take-private deals, and last year was part of a Skadden team that advised an independent committee at Chinese internet company Qihoo 360 on its $9bn take-private deal by company chair Zhou Hongyi. Last year, he was also on the firm's team advising Chinese travel company Ctrip on its merger with rival Qunar Cayman Islands.
Dusek's move comes almost six years after Kirkland recruited Skadden's Asia corporate co-heads Nicholas Norris and Dominic Tsun, alongside fellow corporate partner Li-Chien Wong. The 2011 hires were part of a major move by Kirkland to bulk up its Asia arm, with partners also joining from Latham & Watkins and Allen & Overy.
At Kirkland, Dusek will be reunited with Norris and Li-Chien Wong, but Tsun is no longer at the firm, having resigned earlier this year.
Skadden saw two corporate partners leave its Hong Kong office last year – capital markets partner Alec Tracy left the firm in June, while former office head and M&A partner John Adebiyi returned to London.
