Bracewell's advisory work on one of Jordan's largest renewables developments helped it secure the infrastructure and energy projects prize.

The Al Rajef Wind Power Project is one of the first wind ventures to be developed under Jordan's feed-in-tariff scheme, as the country seeks to shift away from its dependence on imported fossil fuels. Bracewell advised the project sponsor Alcazar Energy Partners on all stages of the project's development, from negotiating and finalising agreements through to issues around engineering, procurement and construction, as well as project financing.

The project had a number of complex elements that Bracewell had to overcome, such as seeking authorisations from a wide range of parties including the government, military, aviation and tourism authorities. It also had to coordinate the assignment of leases related to more than 50 tracts of land from local landowners as security for the project's financial backers.

Bracewell drew on its extensive experience advising on independent power projects in the region, enabling it to anticipate potential contractor and lender issues, and meet the project's aggressive financial deadline set by Jordan's National Electric Power Company.
