Finalists: Baker McKenzie, Simmons & Simmons (Highly Commended); Squire Patton Boggs.
Clyde & Co secured the regulatory and investigations team of the year award for its ongoing work advising insurance regulators in the GCC region on developing and drafting their insurance laws.
Clyde & Co has assisted local regulators in benchmarking their insurance laws and regulations against equivalent laws and regulations in numerous other jurisdictions, and also against international best practice set out by organisations such as the International Association of Insurance Supervisors. These exercises have enabled regional regulators to identify areas of their own law and regulation which could be developed further.
Such exercises are coordinated by their local Clyde & Co team who are able to provide local regulators with summaries of insurance laws and regulations across multiple jurisdictions while outlining detailed recommendations on a range of insurance law-related topics. Drawing on its global reach and expertise, the team has been able to deliver practical guidance on the issues and challenges raised by the implementation of insurance laws and regulations across a range of jurisdictions, complementing the team's broad understanding of the domestic insurance laws and regulations in the GCC region.
"Significant scope of engagement, extensive detail and solid approach with practical guidance," one judge commented.
