Skadden Arps Slate Meagher & Flom private equity partner Richard Youle has agreed his first deal at the firm since joining from White & Case in May.

Youle, who previously co-led the global private equity team at White & Case, is leading a Skadden team advising his longstanding client HgCapital as it takes the lead in the $5.3bn  (£4.1bn) consortium buyout of Norwegian software company Visma.

The deal sees US private equity house KKR sell its entire £1.4bn stake in the company, with Cinven also selling 40% of its stake to a collection of investors led by HgCapital that also includes Montagu, Singaporean sovereign wealth fund GIC and Intermediate Capital Group (ICG). The deal is reportedly the biggest software buyout in Europe.

Fellow former White & Case private equity partner Katja Butler, who joined Youle (pictured) in their move to Skadden in May, is also advising HgCapital on the deal. Youle and Butler started advising on the deal while still at White & Case.

White & Case is also continuing to advise HgCapital, with finance partner Colin Harley leading a team working on debt aspects of the mandate.

Ropes & Gray is advising new client ICG, with London private equity partner Helen Croke at the helm of a team that also includes finance partner Malcolm Hitching, who joined the US firm from Herbert Smith Freehills last year.

Linklaters is advising Montagu with a team led by financial sponsors co-head Alex Woodward, while Latham & Watkins is acting for GIC. Its team is being led by London private equity partner and Africa practice head Kem Ihenacho.

Simpson Thacher & Bartlett is understood to be advising long-standing client KKR on the sale of its stake, with a team led by London corporate partner Greg Conway.

Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer meanwhile is advising Cinven on its disposal, with a team led by London corporate partners Adrian Maguire and Victoria Sigeti.
