Travers Smith and Taylor Wessing are advising as London-headquartered ZPG, the owner of property search engine Zoopla, agrees to buy price comparison website Money.co.uk for up to £140m.

Travers is acting for ZPG with a team led by corporate finance partners Philip Cheveley and Richard Spedding, alongside tax partner Kathleen Russ and commercial intellectual property (IP) partner Louisa Chambers.

Travers regularly advises ZPG and earlier in the year acted on its purchase of Hometrack for £120m.

Taylor Wessing is advising Money.co.uk with a team led by City corporate technology partner Mike Turner.

The purchase adds to ZPG's portfolio of digital services which, as well as Zoopla, includes Umbrella, PrimeLocation and Hometrack.

The acquisition requires Financial Conduct Authority approval to go through.

Other recent deals for Taylor Wessing include advising luxury fashion company Farfetch on its $397m (£303m) investment by JD.com. The firm was also appointed to Santander's legal panel in the bank's latest panel review.

Last month, Travers won a role advising Pret A Manger owner Bridgepoint on its acquisition of Edinburgh-based Miller Homes for £665.

This came as the firm posted a 3.8% turnover increase and a 4.4% fall in profit per equity partner following what managing partner David Patient described as a "challenging" period for the City law firm.
