The UK's 100 largest law firms saw year-on-year fee income rise by 8.5% in the first quarter of the current financial year, according to new research from professional services firm Deloitte.

The accounting giant's latest quarterly legal survey, which covers the three months to 31 July, shows the increase in turnover was primarily driven by growth in fees per fee earner of 7% across the group as a whole.
