Eversheds Sutherland has hired TLT's head of investigations and enforcement Jake McQuitty as a partner in London.

McQuitty departs TLT after two years, having joined the firm in August 2015 from Barclays. He spent five years at the bank, where he became head of investigations and enforcement for Europe and the Middle East.

Prior to joining Barclays in 2010, he was an associate at legacy Lovells and Berwin Leighton Paisner.

He will join Eversheds' financial services disputes and investigations team, which currently comprises 26 partners around the world.

Eversheds co-head of global litigation Paul Worth said: "We have known Jake a long time – we worked with him closely as a client before he joined TLT, we have done some very high-profile work with him, and he has done some of the biggest and most important regulatory investigations in the London market since 2008.

"He strengthens our contentious regulatory practice particularly in terms of global market expertise. With his global market experience working with US regulators, he ties in nicely with our white-collar and financial services regulatory team in the States."

McQuitty has also worked on investigations by UK authorities such as the Financial Conduct Authority and the Serious Fraud Office. During his time at Barclays, he acted on high-profile cases related to benchmark fixing such as the forex scandal, which resulted in substantial fines for the bank.

Eversheds merged with US firm Sutherland Asbill & Brennan on 1 February, creating a firm with 2,300 lawyers operating out of 61 offices worldwide. The merger has been followed up by a series of international launches in Moscow, St Petersburg, Luxembourg and Duesseldorf.
