Legal Week's parent company, ALM, has acquired Global Leaders in Law (GLL), the international general counsel forum led by strategist and executive coach Meena Heath.

GLL, which was founded in 2008, is an invitation-only membership group for general counsel, which provides leadership training, networking and research resources for senior in-house lawyers around the world.

Heath, who trained and qualified at Slaughter and May and also spent a year as chief of staff at Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer, is joining ALM as president of GLL, and will play a leading role in its integration into the company.

ALM will combine GLL's core offerings with its existing media, research and events portfolio – which includes brands such as The American Lawyer and Corporate Counsel in addition to Legal Week – to create a combined suite of resources for global GCs and their teams.

Heath said: "GLL has been built with the dedication and support of the world's leading GCs, law firms and providers of services to the legal community. I would like to thank all of them for helping us to create this astonishing group of talented leaders and I am looking forward to working with ALM to broaden the global offering of resources for GLL members."

ALM CEO Bill Carter added: "General counsel have always been valued clients of ALM. The addition of the elite GLL GC group to our portfolio enables us to deliver the highest quality products to leading global GCs and their teams."

The deal comes after ALM's acquisition of Legal Week in January 2016.
