Ince & Co has named HR director Andrew Jameson (pictured) as its first London head, following the news that international senior partner Jan Heuvels is relocating to Hong Kong.
Jameson will lead operations in the firm's London headquarters while remaining director of HR, with Heuvels set to move to the firm's Hong Kong base next month.
Jameson joined Ince in April following a career in the Royal Navy, where he was a barrister and logistics officer. As logistics officer, he was responsible for managing 1,200 crew members on the HMS Ark Royal aircraft carrier.
His focus as a barrister was employment, criminal and international law. Before retiring from the armed services, his last role was head of legal services and general counsel to the Navy Board.
Jameson said: "London remains a key strategic location for Ince & Co and its clients. I am therefore delighted to have been given this opportunity to support the partnership in London at what is an exciting time in the firm's development."
Heuvels, who has held the role of senior partner since January 2015, added: "Andrew's background and experience means that he is ideally qualified to take on the role of London head of office, while remaining our director of HR. His leadership qualities, which he gained during his time in the Royal Navy, set him apart and will be of major benefit to us as we continue to grow and modernise our firm."
On the announcement of his relocation to Hong Kong, Heuvels said the move was a part of "playing to our strengths" and that he would be responsible for driving growth in the region. As senior partner, he has steered the firm through a challenging period, with revenues falling from £86.4m in 2013-14 to £76.2m in 2015-16, while merger talks with firms including Hill Dickinson failed to materialise.
In 2015, the firm restructured its partnership in an attempt to bring the firm's poor financial run to a close. It also launched a strategy aimed at reducing its dependence on disputes work by boosting its transactional practice.
In the firm's latest financial results, revenues increased by 16% to £88.5m.
