Linklaters has targeted Mayer Brown for the hire of derivatives partner Doug Donahue, alongside counsel William Liu and associate Raha Brown, all of who join the UK firm's New York capital markets team. Donahue joined Mayer Brown in 2016 as a partner from Cadwalader Wickersham & Taft where he was a special counsel. He previously worked in-house at Barclays in New York where he advised on hedge fund financing, derivatives and structured products.

Allen & Overy has hired intellectual property partner Jan Ebersohl from US firm Quinn Emanuel Urquhart & Sullivan in Munich. He will join A&O in December. He regularly represents clients in patent infringement and nullity cases with a focus on the software and mobile communications sectors.

The magic circle firm has also appointed Scott Robson from EY as its first head of e-discovery. Robson was previously an executive director in the forensic technology & discovery services group within EY's fraud investigation and dispute services practice. Robson said: "This is an exciting time to join Allen & Overy as it is currently investing in a new e-discovery platform and is involved in a broader change management project which is focused on its litigation working practices."

Hogan Lovells has strengthened its City construction and engineering practice with the hire of Mitsubishi Hitachi Power Systems Europe (MHPSE) legal head Angus Rankin as partner. Rankin began his legal career at Hogan Lovells and qualified into the international arbitration and construction and engineering disputes practice. He left the firm in 2010 and rejoins from MHPSE, where he led the legal function covering all aspects of corporate legal activity and also taking on the role of company secretary and adviser to its board of directors.

Baker McKenzie has appointed partner Adam Farlow as head of the firm's EMEA capital markets group following the move of former head Edward Bibko to investment bank Jefferies as EMEA head of investment banks, legal. Bibko joined Bakers from Kirkland & Ellis in 2000. He served two terms in the role of head of EMEA capital markets after being first appointed in 2011.

The firm has also hired a private equity team from Dechert in Munich led by corporate partner Berthold Hummel. Hummel, who had been at Dechert since 2006, has a practice that focuses on private equity and life sciences work. Prior to joining Dechert he served six years as senior legal counsel in the legal department of private equity firm 3i. He joins with two associates.

White & Case has hired capital markets partner Sami Al-Louzi from rival US firm Latham & Watkins to boost its Middle East offering. Al-Louzi, who was at White & Case between 2002 and 2010, specialises in advising clients in the financial services, securities, infrastructure, healthcare and telecommunications sectors. He will split his time between the firm's Dubai and Riyadh offices.

The firm has also strengthened its Seoul office with the hire of international arbitration partner Jun Hee Kim from Hyundai Heavy Industries where he was international general counsel. The firm's executive partner in Seoul James Lee said: "Jun Hee is an outstanding lawyer with a high profile in the international arbitration community in Asia-Pacific and strong links with the Korean business community."

Stephenson Harwood has hired Rubin Weston as a finance partner in London. He joins from Baker Botts. He has experience advising on financings in developing markets with a focus on the oil and gas, mining, power and infrastructure sectors in Russia and Eastern Europe. Head of finance at Stephenson Harwood Susan Moore said: "We have an ambitious strategy to grow our partner headcount by a third in the five years to 2021, and core to our realising this, is our ability to attract exceptional people."

Crowell & Moring has hired Morgan Lewis & Bockius corporate partner Amy Comer in London. She advises clients on cross-border M&A and US investment matters. She was previously a partner at Dewey & LeBouef in New York and London between 2005 and 2012.

Dentons Boekel has hired Marcel Janssen as head of banking and finance in Amsterdam. Janssen joins from Baker McKenzie where he was head of the Amsterdam lending team. His focus is advising banks and financial institutions on acquisition, export, trade and commodity finance. He also has specific experience in the financing of energy, infrastructure and real estate projects. Janssen joins alongside a team of three finance associates: Tess Israel, Jack Schrijver and Gerard Koster all from Baker McKenzie.

In August Dentons hired four tax lawyers from Bakers, including two partners, to launch a tax practice in the Netherlands. Dentons opened in Amsterdam in May via a merger with local firm Boekel.

Kennedys has continued its US growth with the hire of three insurance partners from struggling US firm Sedgwick. Sedgwick's Chicago managing partner Eric Scheiner has joined Kennedys alongside partners Dick Geddes and Jennifer Quinn Broda. The hires follow that of Sedgwick's New York head John Blancett and two other partners who joined Kennedys in September. Kennedys opened in the US in May via a merger with 100-lawyer insurance firm Carroll McNulty & Kull.

Osborne Clarke has appointed four lawyers to its new Stockholm office, including one partner. Corporate lawyer Mikael Moreira joins as a partner from Stockholm boutique Synch alongside associate Kim Bergman. The firm has also recruited commercial lawyer Isabella Palmgren from Bird & Bird and corporate lawyer Gabriel Liska from SEB Venture Capital, both join as associates. Osborne Clarke launched in Sweden last month with the hire of partners from Bird & Bird and Swedish boutique Baumgarten Bystroem Rooth & Partners.

DWF has hired insurance partner Steffen Ernemann in Munich from DAC Beachcroft's German alliance firm BLD Bach Langheid Dallmayr. Key mandates for Ernemann include acting for carmaker Volkswagen during the emissions scandal. His clients in the insurance market include Allianz and Brit Global Speciality.

Irwin Mitchell has appointed Nick Rucker as national head of tax. Rucker was previously head of the London and international team, but will now oversee the national tax, trusts & estates practice across the firm's 14 offices. Rucker's focus is corporate and private client law with specialisms in international structuring, investment structures and tax for high-net-worth individuals, families and private offices.

The firm has also made George Merrylees a partner. Merrylees advises on UK tax advice for international clients, including structuring UK business and property assets for clients abroad, acting for business owners, high-net-worth individuals and families primarily based in Europe and Africa.

Ince & Co has hired partner Ian Fisher who will join the firm's Monaco office from the Singapore office of Vietnamese firm YKVN. Fisher advises on shipping, international trade, ship-building and offshore oil and gas matters and trained at Ince & Co, working for the firm for four years before moving to DLA Piper.

In Hong Kong RPC has hired banking and finance litigator Jonathan Crompton as a partner from US firm Proskauer Rose where he was an associate. He trained in London at A&O before relocating to Asia in 2008. From A&O he joined Dechert, before joining Proskauer in 2015. RPC's head of commercial disputes Tom Hibbert said: "Jonathan brings with him an established network of contacts and a strong pipeline of work. He is ambitious and driven, and is the right fit for our team and for RPC."

Blake Morgan has made a double partner hire from Bindmans in London, bringing on board Flora Grossman (pictured above left) and Farhana Shahzady (pictured above right) as partners in its family law team. The pair led Bindmans family law team and between them have more than 35 years' worth of experience in the sector. They are joined at the firm by solicitor Amy Fullerton (pictured above centre). Blake Morgan's divisional director for private law Helen Bunker said: "Flora and Farhana's vast experience in family law is a real gain to Blake Morgan's London offering."

Michelmores has added two new partners, one new associate and one newly qualified solicitor in London. Philip Newhouse joins as partner in the corporate team from McGuire Woods where he was a partner as well as London head between 2012 and 2014. Douglas Hawthorn joins as partner in the firm's banking, restructuring & insolvency team from Travers Smith where he was senior counsel. He has previously worked at Hogan Lovells and DLA Piper. In addition, Preema Patel has joined the firm's employment team as an associate from Gordon Dadds and Rav Sagar has joined the corporate team as a solicitor from Stevens & Bolton.

Taylor Wessing has appointed Sian Skelton to its 10-strong UK executive board. Skelton joined Taylor Wessing in 2006 and has been a partner since 2015. She is a member of the IT, telecoms and competition team, with a focus on advising technology companies. Her appointment follows Taylor Wessing's announcement in August this year that it intended to appoint a female board member, as part of its diversity agenda.

Eversheds Sutherland has appointed costs lawyer James Barrett to its costs litigation team in London. He joins from Lampton 360, a wholly owned subsidiary of Hounslow Council, and prior to that was head of costs at the UK Government's legal department.
