Nine partners at UK top 20 firms have been named in the Financial Times' OUTstanding leading LGBT executives list.
Nine partners from the Legal Week UK top 20 feature in the list of 100, which celebrates successful LGBT executives who have also created supportive workplaces for other LGBT people. It is produced by OUTstanding, the professional network for LGBT+ executives and their allies, for the FT's annual diversity report.
Partners named include Herbert Smith Freehills global head of disputes Justin D'Agostino, Allen & Overy commercial partner Jim Ford, Hogan Lovells US securities head John Basnage and Clifford Chance corporate partner Narind Singh.
Travers Smith pensions head Daniel Gerring is the highest-placed private practice lawyer on the list, at 13th place.
Other firms with partners on the list include Pinsent Masons, Berwin Leighton Paisner, Simmons & Simmons and Reed Smith.
Meanwhile prominent in-house lawyers including JP Morgan Chase general counsel Stacey Friedman, BT general counsel and company secretary Dan Fitz and BP associate GC for downstream and shipping Michael Sosso, also make the grade.
Earlier this year, law firms took half of the top 10 spots in Stonewall's workplace equality ranking, with a total of 17 included in the list of 100 LGBT-friendly employers.
Pinsent Masons was the highest-ranking law firm in second place, up from fifth last year, while Berwin Leighton Paisner (BLP) was the highest-placed new entrant at number eight.
The other law firms in the top 10 were Clifford Chance – which jumped from ninth place last year to fourth – while Baker McKenzie and Norton Rose Fulbright also made the top 10, at seventh and 10th respectively.
