Andrew LeaitherlandDWF has made up nine partners in its latest round of promotions, including two in London.

Two lawyers have joined the partnership in Liverpool, with one lawyer being made up in each of Birmingham, Leeds, Newcastle and Manchester. The only new partner made up outside of the UK is based in Brisbane.

The new City partners are insurance partners Eileen Pathiraja and Rhys Sanchez, while the duo promoted in Liverpool are insurance partner Fiona Matthews and litigation partner Giles Kellner.

Insurance partner Paul Donnelly in Birmingham, energy partner Christian Hellmund in Leeds, litigation partner Jonathan Smith in Newcastle, corporate partner Lisa Stavropoulos in Manchester and regulatory partner Damian Hegarty in Brisbane also made the grade.

The promotions have been effective since 1 November and three out of nine of the newly promoted partners are women.

DWF CEO and managing partner Andrew Leaitherland (pictured) said: "We believe in recognising a wide range of contributions, and these individuals not only demonstrate technical expertise, but also uphold our commitment to understanding our clients and using that knowledge to champion and deliver innovative solutions."

DWF has been on a recruitment drive in recent months, hiring Addleshaw Goddard's former international managing partner Andrew Carpenter and former DLA Piper partner Mel Sims. The firm also opened its first Italian office in Milan this month, through the hire of a 16-strong team from local firms Pavia & Ansaldo and LS Lexjus Sinacta.

Fellow insurance-focused firm DAC Beachcroft made up four new partners this week, including one who had first joined the firm as a legal secretary.
