Shearman & Sterling elects London trio to partnership
The US firm has made up three lawyers in its capital markets and finance practices in London

US firm Shearman & Sterling has elected three lawyers to the partnership in its London office.
Capital markets counsel Rebecca Marques and Pawel Szaja, and finance associate Philip Stopford, have all been promoted to partner in the firm's City base.
The trio are part of a 16-strong round to be appointed to Shearman's partnership.
The new partners are spread across eight of the firm's offices – Abu Dhabi, Frankfurt, London, New York, Singapore, Tokyo, Toronto and Washington DC.
Shearman senior partner Creighton Condon said: "We are delighted to welcome this outstanding and diverse group to the partnership. Their promotion reflects the broad scope of our business and our continued investment in our global network to meet client demand. We are confident that their energy, focus and commitment will continue to provide the highest quality client service and help drive the future growth and development of the firm."
Four associates and 12 counsel have been promoted in the round, with all appointments taking effect from 1 January 2018.
Last year the firm had a reduced round, making up six partners globally and none in London. However in 2015, the firm's City base saw the most promotions out of any office with five lawyers made up.

J. Brugh Lower of Gibbons has entered an appearance for industrial equipment supplier Devco Corporation in a pending trademark infringement lawsuit. The suit, accusing the defendant of selling knock-off Graco products, was filed Dec. 18 in New Jersey District Court by Rivkin Radler on behalf of Graco Inc. and Graco Minnesota. The court action, filed Nov. 25 in Michigan Eastern District Court by Hooper Hathaway PC on behalf of The Town Residences LLC, accuses Crown Castle of failing to transfer approximately $30,000 in utility payments from T-Mobile in breach of a roof-top lease and assignment agreement.
