Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer Paris head Elie Kleiman has joined Jones Day in the French capital.

Kleiman (pictured), who joins the US firm as a partner in its global disputes practice, first started at Freshfields in 2000 and had led its Paris office since 2011.

He specialises in international commercial arbitration and civil law disputes.

Jones Day disputes head Greg Shumaker said: "Elie brings us broad arbitration, litigation and transactional experience across various jurisdictions and industry sectors. His decision to join us sends a very clear message that we remain committed to providing Jones Day clients access to the premier lawyers in Europe."

Kleiman's move comes after the US firm hired Freshfield's entire Paris real estate team in February 2017.

The four-lawyer team was led by partner Erwan Le Douce-Bercot, who joined Jones Day as its head of real estate in France, having held the same role at Freshfields.

In the same month, Freshfields hired a five-partner Paris private equity team from Ashurst.

Other recent moves in Paris include the hire of Skadden Arps Slate Meagher & Flom M&A heavyweight Olivier Diaz by Gide Loyrette Nouel last month.
