Linklaters announces promotion of 30 new counsel including 14 women
Thirty-strong cohort of counsel promotions include five in magic circle firm's London base

Linklaters has announced the promotion of 30 counsel across 14 of the magic circle firm's offices.
Five of the newly-promoted counsel are based in Linklaters' City headquarters. Eighteen are based in continental Europe, alongside three each in New York and Hong Kong.
The new London counsel are Anna Mitchell (competition), Jacqueline Chaplin (dispute resolution), Elizabeth Dowd (financial regulation), Louise Samuel (real estate) and Chris Williams (banking global loans).
At the same time, the firm has also promoted seven lawyers to the rank of counsel professional support lawyer (PSL), including five in London.
Almost half (14) of the newly promoted counsel are women, while four of the seven PSLs are female. All of the promotions are effective from 1 May.
Seventeen of the counsel are in the firm's finance and projects division, with seven in corporate and six in the global dispute resolution practice.
In March, Linklaters announced the promotion of 27 lawyers to partner, including 10 in London. As well as the 10 promotions in London, the firm made up nine partners in Asia across Hong Kong, Tokyo, Seoul and Abu Dhabi.
The firm outstripped its 30% target for female partner promotions set in 2012, with women making up 37% of the newly promoted cohort. The promotions round saw the highest number of women ever promoted in a single round at Linklaters, breaking a previous record high of nine in 2014.

The complaint was filed Sept. 4 in Connecticut District Court by attorney Robert M. Berke on behalf of former employee George Edward Steins, who was arrested and charged with employing an unregistered home improvement salesperson.
