Ropes & Gray has recruited a new London partner from Goldman Sachs, in a boost for the US firm's City finance practice.

Carol Van der Vorst joins from Goldman's London base, where she was a managing director in its loan negotiation group. She has experience advising sponsors and underwriters and has a focus on structuring and negotiating complex debt financing transactions.

Ropes global finance co-head Michael Kazakevich said the US firm had worked with Van der Vorst for many years, and that her hire would boost the firm's "joined-up bank and bond capability" and strengthen its English law practice. She will join Ropes on 13 August this year.

Pinsent Masons has hired Baker McKenzie Madrid public law and infrastructure head Pablo Dorronsoro to lead its public law practice in the Spanish capital.

Prior to joining Bakers, he was a partner at CMS, and will now work across Pinsents' energy, infrastructure and technology sectors acting on public law and regulatory matters.

Pinsents Madrid head Diego Lozano said: "We wish to differentiate Pinsents in the Spanish market and believe our focus on our sectors and innovative approach to legal service delivery is the best way to achieve this."

Ashurst has added a securitisation partner to its London office with the hire of Clifford Chance senior associate Tom Picton. His practice has a key focus on the consumer sector, with experience covering domestic and international transactions for clients that include banks, mortgage lenders, auto finance companies, asset managers and private equity firms.

Eversheds Sutherland has boosted its London corporate claims team with the hire of litigation partner Louise Bland. She joins from Ellisons Solicitors and specialises in injury claims and complex disputes including indemnity and coverage issues.

DAC Beachcroft has appointed Pedro Claros in Madrid as co-head of its international arbitration practice. Claros, who joins from Spanish firm Cuatrecasas, acts on international arbitration for investors in the renewable energy sector in Europe as well as banks, construction and engineering companies and utilities businesses across Latin America.

Clyde & Co has bolstered its insurance and cybersecurity practice in Sydney with the hire of partner John Moran. Moran joins from Norton Rose Fulbright where has was a partner for two years and sat on the firm's innovation committee. He acts on cybersecurity, IT liability and professional indemnity for financial institutions, directors and officers. Clyde & Co Australia managing partner Dean Carrigan commented: "Many of John's clients are already clients of Clyde & Co and there is no doubt that he is regarded as a trusted adviser by many insurers."

Mishcon de Reya has recruited Mark Davis, the founder of litigation boutique Davis & Co. Davis was previously part of a three-partner elected management committee at Watson Farley & Williams, before leaving in 1996 to set up independent firm Curtis Davis Garrard. He established litigation-focused firm Davis & Co in 2003. Davis has a focus on litigation and arbitration, acting in the banking, professional negligence, shipping and energy sectors.

DWF has appointed Robbie Constance as head of financial services regulatory in its City base. Constance, who joins from RPC, specialises in financial services with a focus on conduct regulation. Before joining RPC as an associate in 2004, Constance was a barrister. He became a partner with RPC in 2013.

Withers has hired restructuring and insolvency specialist Justin Yip as a partner in its Singapore dispute resolution team. Yip acts for multinational corporations, Singapore-listed companies, local and foreign banks and financial institutions on restructuring and insolvency, corporate rescues and workouts.
