White & Case has recruited Macfarlanes private equity partner Emmie Jones as the US firm continues to build up its M&A capabilities in London.
Jones, who will join White & Case's global M&A practice and global private equity industry group, is the latest lateral recruit for the firm's London M&A team, following the March hire of Jones Day's Mike Weir and the arrival of Dominic Ross from Ashurst in May.
Jones, who joined Macfarlanes in 2005 and made partner in 2013, has experience of both traditional cross-border private equity transactions and advisory work for portfolio companies.
Deals she has worked on at Macfarlanes have included advising Exponent Private Equity on the £200m sale of media intelligence website Gorkana in 2014, as well as its 2016 acquisition of a majority stake in mortgage finance provider ENRA Group.
Executive committee member Oliver Brettle said: "Our 2020 strategy includes a focus on profitable growth in London, in the global private equity industry and in M&A. The arrival of Emmie represents clear further progress in all three areas."
Other London partner hires for White & Case since January have included commercial litigators Chris Brennan and Hannah Field-Lowes, who joined from Addleshaw Goddard and Weil Gotshal & Manges respectively.
"Emmie is the seventh partner we have announced joining us laterally in London in 2018 so far, adding to seven internal partner promotions that were effective on 1 January," added Brettle.
Macfarlanes partner departures remain a relatively rare event, although this February investment fund finance head Bronwen Jones left for Reed Smith, before which the last exit had been competition head Marc Israel, who joined White & Case in November 2016.
