Fidal, France's largest law firm, has elected Yves de Sevin as chairman of its executive committee.

De Sevin will hold the position for a two-year term until 2020, working alongside former chair Regis Lassabe, who has stepped into the role of managing director.

He began his professional career at Fidal, joining in 1983 as an intern, before becoming head of the tax department at the Le Mans office in 1990, before being appointed head of the Nantes regional division. In 2008, he was elected onto the executive committee and in 2012 he was appointed managing director.

Lassabe, who had been chairman since 2012, will continue to work alongside De Sevin to push forward Fidal's strategy, which includes a focus on international development, as well as a digital transformation project.

According to the Global 100 2018, Fidal is the 39th-largest law firm in the world by headcount, with 1,267 lawyers in nearly 90 offices across France. In 2014, the firm agreed a formal strategic alliance with UK top 50 firm Mills & Reeve on the back of a growing number of referrals between the two outfits.
