Dentons launches in Duesseldorf with Taylor Wessing partner duo
The new office with be the firm's fourth in Germany

Dentons is set to launch a Duesseldorf office next year – its fourth in Germany – with the hire of two partners from Taylor Wessing.
The international firm has hired Taylor Wessing competition, EU and trade head Andreas Haak and employment partner Sascha Grosjean for the new base, which is set to open in April 2019.
Haak will lead the office as managing partner and also co-head Dentons' German competition, antitrust and regulatory practice, alongside Jorg Karenfort.
Dentons chairman Joe Andrew said: "As the capital of the largest and most densely populated region in Germany, and the country's number one city for FDI, Duesseldorf is a hotspot for investment and a priority market for our global clients. It is the natural choice as the next phase in our German market positioning strategy."
Dentons currently operates in three German cities: Berlin, Frankfurt and Munich. With the new office, the firm will have more than 200 lawyers in the country.
Dentons chief executive Elliot Portnoy said that between 2015 and 2017, the firm's German revenue grew by more than 60% and the firm is "on track to achieve double-digit growth again this year" in the country.
In 2016, Dentons European chief executive CEO Tomasz Dabrowski identified Germany as a "top priority for growth" for the firm.
The firm has also continued expanding its global reach via tie-ups. Earlier this year, Dentons announced combinations with seven firms across Africa, Mauritius, the Caribbean, Indonesia and Malaysia. In 2017, Dentons also expanded into Central America with a combination in Costa Rica, added to its presence in Mexico, and announced a strategic alliance with Brazilian firm Vella Pugliese Buosi Guidoni.

Driscoll from Wilmer Cutler Pickering Hale and Dorr have stepped in to represent Symbotic Inc., an A.I.-enabled technology platform that focuses on increasing supply chain efficiency, and other defendants in a pending shareholder derivative lawsuit. The case, filed Oct. 2 in Massachusetts District Court by the Brown Law Firm on behalf of Stephen Austen, accuses certain officers and directors of misleading investors in regard to Symbotic's potential for margin growth by failing to disclose that the company was not equipped to timely deploy its systems or manage expenses through project delays. The complaint was filed Sept. 4 in Connecticut District Court by attorney Robert M. Berke on behalf of former employee George Edward Steins, who was arrested and charged with employing an unregistered home improvement salesperson.
