White & Case has continued its recent spate of London recruitment with the hire of of Kirkland & Ellis partner Gilles Teerlinck for its capital markets practice.

Teerlinck, who has been at Kirkland's City base for five years and made partner in 2016, advises issuers, sponsors and underwriters on international securities transactions, with a particular focus on offerings of high yield debt securities.

White & Case partner Stuart Matty, who leads the firm's global capital markets practice, said: "High yield debt in Europe has continued to grow across all jurisdictions and in many key industries throughout the last decade.

"The market for high yield work will continue to grow and our clear ambition is to continue to build a leadership position in the international high yield market – Gilles is therefore an exciting strategic addition who adds further depth to our strong EMEA team and further enhances the services we provide to our clients."

The addition of Teerlinck marks the 14th London lateral hire for White & Case in London since the beginning of the year, and comes after the firm last week took on Herbert Smith Freehills (HSF) partner Simon Caridia for its project finance practice.

Caridia, who focuses on debt financings for infrastructure M&A and private equity deals, was a partner at HSF for three years.

Other recent London recruits have included Bryan Cave Leighton Paisner contentious construction and engineering partner David Robertson, and Cadwalader Wickersham & Taft London litigation partner Steven Baker.

White & Case also last week announced its largest-ever round of partner promotions, with 10 London associates made up to partner.
