TLT has expanded its commercial real estate offering in Scotland with the acquisition of Glasgow law firm Leslie Wolfson & Co.

The acquisition will add three partners to the Bristol-headquartered firm's Glasgow office, including Leslie Wolfson senior partner Howard Beach and commercial real estate partners Andrew McCowan and Donna Strong.

Beach said: "The move enables us to more effectively support our existing clients by drawing on the expertise of a full-service UK firm with on-the-ground expertise in all three UK legal jurisdictions."

Following the acquisition, TLT will have a total of 74 staff in Scotland, of which 53 will be fee-earners.

The move comes as part of a push by TLT to expand its services for clients such as corporate occupiers, developers, banks, investors and public bodies, as well as its work advising on the property issues facing retailers and leisure operators.

TLT Glasgow disputes partner John Paul Sheridan took over the firm's Scottish leadership in February 2018, and has since recruited clean energy real estate partner Nick Shenken from Pinsent Masons and banking and finance partner Douglas Gourlay from Weightmans.

He commented: "We are committed to growing the team in Scotland and building a market-leading service for clients in the sectors where we specialise, and this acquisition is a clear example of our drive to deliver that. Leslie Wolfson is a great fit with what we are trying to achieve in Scotland and across the UK."

TLT launched in Scotland via a 2012 merger with Scottish litigation firm Anderson Fyfe – a deal that added eight partners and 45 employees to its ranks – before making its debut in Belfast in the same year.
