King & Spalding has recruited former Bank of England enforcement head Robert Dedman as a partner in its London special matters and government investigations team. He joins from Navigant Consulting, where he was a senior director in the global investigations and compliance group. His practice covers UK and cross-border government investigations, corporate internal investigations and anti-bribery and corruption and anti‐money laundering compliance projects, with a primary focus on the regulated financial services sector.
White & Case has hired Herbert Smith Freehills projects partner Simon Caridia to its City base. Caridia joined HSF in May 2015 after a 10-year stint at Linklaters, at which he was a managing associate and later counsel. He specialises in debt financings for infrastructure M&A and private equity transactions.
Squire Patton Boggs has boosted its Paris real estate offering with the double hire of former Paris head of real estate Alexandra Plain and Gowling WLG real estate partner Jeremy Roigt. Plain specialises in the hospitality sector, while Roigt advises French and international institutional investors on all aspects of real estate.
Morgan Lewis has grown its London corporate offering with the hire of Pillsbury partner Mike Pierides. Prior to joining Pillsbury he was a partner at Pinsent Masons for two years. He advises on multijurisdictional arrangements, technology development, implementation and services, and strategic restructurings, and is joined in the move by counsel Simon Lightman who joins Morgan Lewis as a partner.
Hausfeld has boosted its London office with the hire of commercial litigation partner Michael Bywell from US firm Arnold & Porter's City base. Bywell specialises in complex litigation, with a particular focus on technology.
Eversheds Sutherland has appointed Darren Jones as head of service excellence for its company commercial practice group in London. Jones joins from Barclays where he advised the legal, business and infrastructure teams on law tech, legal service delivery, and legal automation.
Reed Smith has hired Simmons & Simmons partner Omar Al-Ali in its energy and natural resources group in London. Al-Ali has a particular focus on structured trade and commodities finance and financings into emerging markets.
Katten Muchin Rosenman has added tax partner Charlotte Sallabank to its London office from Jones Day. Sallabank advises on financial transactions, including structured and asset-backed financing and cross-border transactions, as well as mergers and acquisitions, tax-efficient group structuring and a range of corporate joint venture arrangements.
Bird & Bird has appointed capital markets partner Ola Lidstrom to its international corporate group in Stockholm. Lidstrom joins from Swedish firm Hamilton, where was a partner. Lidstrom's practice will focus on capital markets transactions within the Nordic region and internationally.
Womble Bond Dickinson has hired insurance claims partner Tim Barr as a partner in its London office. Barr has been a partner at DWF since January 2017 and specialises in complex coverage disputes and defending professional negligence claims against a broad range of professionals.
William Fry has appointed Eversheds Sutherland partner Ian Devlin as its new head of pensions in Ireland. Devlin was at Eversheds for 18 years and is also a former chairman of the Association of Pension Lawyers in Ireland, as well as a current member of the DC sub-committee of the Irish Association of Pension Funds. He advises employers and pension scheme trustees on all areas of pension law.
Hogan Lovells has appointed Salome Cisnal De Ugarte as the firm's new office managing partner for Brussels. Cisnal De Ugarte joined the firm last year from US firm Crowell & Moring. She takes over as managing partner from Matthew Levitt, who steps down from the role after three years. Levitt will remain at the firm as a partner.
Ropes & Gray has hired Akin Gump Strauss Hauer & Feld financial services contentious regulatory partner Rosemarie Paul to its London office to bolster its City litigation and enforcement practice. She is a former regulator at the Financial Services Authority, now the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA), and advises clients on UK financial regulatory matters, with a particular focus on regulatory investigations and enforcement proceedings involving the FCA and the Prudential Regulation Authority.
Clifford Chance has boosted its German finance offering with the hire of acquisition finance partner Steffen Schellschmidt from Fried Frank. Schellschmidt is based in CC's Frankfurt office and was formerly a managing associate at Linklaters before joining Fried Frank in 2015. He advises on syndicated lending transactions, including acquisition finance, corporate finance and debt restructurings.
Stephenson Harwood has strengthened its energy group with the addition of partner Marc Hammerson who returns to the firm from Akin Gump Strauss Hauer & Feld, having been a partner at Stephenson Harwood from 2006 until 2011. He specialises in upstream, midstream and downstream oil and gas, including LNG and pipelines and infrastructure projects and power generation.
Irwin Mitchell has boosted its corporate and commercial teams in London with two partners. Darlington Solicitors corporate partner Deborah Serota has joined the firm, while Sainsburys bank head of legal and data Winston Green (pictured) has also joined the firm as a partner in its commercial team.

Driscoll from Wilmer Cutler Pickering Hale and Dorr have stepped in to represent Symbotic Inc., an A.I.-enabled technology platform that focuses on increasing supply chain efficiency, and other defendants in a pending shareholder derivative lawsuit. The case, filed Oct. 2 in Massachusetts District Court by the Brown Law Firm on behalf of Stephen Austen, accuses certain officers and directors of misleading investors in regard to Symbotic's potential for margin growth by failing to disclose that the company was not equipped to timely deploy its systems or manage expenses through project delays. The case, assigned to U.S. District Judge Nathaniel M. Gorton, is 1:24-cv-12522, Austen v. Cohen et al.

The action, filed Oct. 7 in New York Southern District Court by the Brown Law Firm, accuses the company's directors and/or officers of falsely expressing confidence in the company’s restructuring of its sales incentive plan and downplaying the severity of decreases in its upfront commitments. David X. Sullivan, Thomas J. Finn and Gregory A. Hall from McCarter & English have entered appearances for Sunrun Installation Services in a pending civil rights lawsuit. The complaint was filed Sept. 4 in Connecticut District Court by attorney Robert M. Berke on behalf of former employee George Edward Steins, who was arrested and charged with employing an unregistered home improvement salesperson. The complaint alleges that had Sunrun informed the Connecticut Department of Consumer Protection that the plaintiff's employment had ended in 2017 and that he no longer held Sunrun's home improvement contractor license, he would not have been hit with charges, which were dismissed in May 2024. The case, assigned to U.S. District Judge Jeffrey A. Meyer, is 3:24-cv-01423, Steins v. Sunrun, Inc. et al.
