DLA Piper's Frankfurt office move has been hit by delays, meaning the team will not be able to move into its new residency until next year.

The Frankfurt team, which is currently based in the Westhafen Tower, had been planning to move into the WinX Riverside Tower building.

However, due to construction work not meeting its deadline, part of the team will now have to work temporarily in the Westend Carree building from December until the building work at the new office is complete.

The team is predicting it will be another six to eight months until it is able to complete the move.

According to the firm's website, DLA has almost 70 lawyers in Frankfurt, including 28 partners.

Frankfurt office managing partner Burkhard Fuhrmeyer said: "As the development of our new building in Frankfurt is taking a little longer than expected and our lease is expiring at the end of this year, we are temporarily moving to the Westend Carree building in December.

"For practical reasons, some of our people are staying in our current office, which will remain our main office address. We are confident that our new offices will be completed soon and we look forward to moving into the new space next year."

At the start of this year, DLA saw a senior departure from its Frankfurt team when Ashurst recruited former office managing partner Michael Holzhaeuser for its local office.

Since then, DLA has looked to rebolster the team, hiring tax partner Marie-Theres Ramer from Clifford Chance in March, capital markets partner Roland Mass from Latham & Watkins in July, and financial regulatory partner Dennis Kunschke from Allen & Overy in September.
