Hengeler Mueller has bolstered its partnership with a trio of promotions across the German firm's domestic offices.

Senior associate Carl-Philipp Eberlein will become a partner in Duesseldorf, focusing on financial regulation, while notary Thomas Lang, who specialises in M&A and corporate, has been made up in Frankfurt. The third promotion is Berlin corporate senior associate Martin Tasma.

In addition to the the three new partners, the firm has also made seven counsel promotions. The appointments will be effective from 1 January next year.

Hengeler – which with the new promotions will have 90 partners – made up two partners last year and five in 2017.

Hengeler co-managing partners Georg Frowein and Rainer Krause said: "We are very happy to continue to shape the future of our firm with an outstanding group of young lawyers. All newly appointed partners and counsel have been with the firm for many years, contributing substantially to our great success with their excellent work. We sincerely want to congratulate them and look forward to continuing our success together."

New Duesseldorf partner Eberlein recently took a role on the sale of a majority stake in German life insurance business Generali Leben to Viridium, and he has also advised several insurance companies and banks in connection with Brexit.

Lang, meanwhile, was recently part of the firm's team advising on the mega-merger of Linde and Praxair, and the related disposal of Linde's America businesses to Messer and CVC.

Tasma, who advises corporate clients, private equity funds and other financial investors on debt and equity restructurings and M&A deals, has worked on the financial restructurings of Bartec, dress-for-less and Imtech, as well as PSA's acquisition of Opel/Vauxhall.
