Two Fieldfisher partners have launched bids to be the firm's next senior partner as incumbent Matthew Lohn's term comes to an end.

Corporate partner David Wilkinson and real estate partner Anthony Phillips have launched bids to succeed Lohn in the role.

Real estate head Phillips joined Fieldfisher in 2005, having previously been a partner at Mayer Brown. He was appointed real estate head the following year and later sat on Fieldfisher's executive committee from 2010 until last year.

Corporate partner Wilkinson joined the firm in 1990 and was made up nine years later. He has advised a number of sports-related transactions, including Rangers FC's flotation and Russian billionaire Alisher Usmanov's purchase of a stake in Arsenal FC.

Fieldfisher had scrapped the senior partner role in 2012 following a governance review, only to reinstate the position the following year when Lohn was elected.

In November, managing partner Michael Chissick was re-elected as Fieldfisher's managing partner for a third term, on the back of strong half-year revenue results.

Meanwhile, the firm has expanded its City office with the hire of Stephenson Harwood investment funds partner James Tinworth.

Tinworth joined Stephenson Harwood in 2011 as a partner from Simmons & Simmons.

He specialises in investment management and investment funds work, with a focus on offshore hedge funds and their management groups. Before joining Simmons in 2005, he worked in the financial markets group at Linklaters from 2002 to 2004, before joining the investment management group at legacy BLP.

Last year, the firm hired ex-UK Prime Minister David Cameron's former legal adviser, Andrew Hood, from Dechert as a partner to boost its Brexit practice.
