The Transfer Window: hires for Dechert, Addleshaws and CC
A round up of all the partner moves you may have missed over the past few weeks

Addleshaw Goddard has bucked the trend of exits from law firms for accountants, hiring EY associate partner Steven Francis. Francis had formerly been a partner at Baker McKenzie and RPC before joining EY's financial services law practice in 2015. He most recently led the accountant's regulatory team and joins Addleshaws as a partner in its financial regulation team.
Clifford Chance has recruited DLA Piper's Luxembourg head of tax Geoffrey Scardoni to its Luxembourg office. Scardoni advises on matters relating to funds and investment structures and works for PE firms, asset managers and financial institutions. He joined DLA Piper as a partner in 2015, before which he was a partner at King & Wood Mallesons in Luxembourg.
The magic circle firm has also appointed Andrew Patterson as a partner in the firm's Incentives practice. Patterson joins from Barclays, where he was head of incentives law, advising the bank on global incentives and remuneration issues. Before moving to Barclays in 2010, Patterson trained as a practising incentive lawyer at Ashurst.
Pennington Manches has hired private client partner Ryan Myint in the firm's London office. Myint arrives from Taylor Wessing, where he was a partner for over eight years, and has also previously worked at Clifford Chance and Withers. Myint specialises in wealth structuring, trust and succession. He is experienced in advising Asian clients, as well as international clients with an interest in Asia.
Cooley has expanded their London based IP team with the lateral hire of Charlie Winckworth who arrives from Hogan Lovells. Winckworth advises clients on obtaining, protecting and commercialising their IP as well as enforcement claims. He had been at Hogan Lovells since 2004, and a partner at the firm for five years, and career highlights include co-leading on Amazon's High Court Appeal against Lush in 2014.
Dechert has hired financial services specialist Carol Widger to be the new managing partner of its Dublin office. Widger joins from Maples and Calder and advises on the establishment, launch and ongoing management of all types of investment funds. The firm has also brought in Luxembourg-qualified lawyer Marianna Tothova as a partner in the London and Luxembourg offices. Tothova's practice focuses on private funds as well as UCITS. Prior to joining the firm, she was counsel at Ashurst.
Forsters has boosted its contentious estates and trusts practice with the hire of private client partner Roberta Harvey from Charles Russell Speechlys. Harvey, who spent more than eight years at the firm, has particular experience in conducting complex trust and estate disputes both in the UK and offshore.
Fladgate has bolstered its corporate practice team with the hire of corporate partner Tim Wright. Wright joins after just over eighteen years at Pillsbury Winthrop Shaw Pittman, where he led the global sourcing practice group and specialised in complex transactions, with a particular focus on the financial services, healthcare and technology sectors.
Spanish firm Cuatrecasas has hired a new coordinating partner of litigation and arbitration in Lisbon. Miguel de Almada will be the third partner in the litigation and arbitration practice area for the firm. He joins from Morais Leitão, Galvão Teles, Soares da Silva & Associados where he worked for 20 years, becoming partner in 2010.
Bird & Bird has boosted its commercial practice with the appointment of Tomasz Zalewski as a partner in the firm's Warsaw office. Zalewski joins from Wierzbowski Eversheds Sutherland, where he served as managing partner and head of the TMT, IP, technology and engineering teams. Zalewski advises on complex projects involving the application of new technology and public procurement, including on large IT projects.
TLT has welcomed restructuring partner Andrew Lockerbie back to its London practice after a two-year stint at Shoosmiths. Lockerbie left the firm in January 2017, followed by restructuring lawyer Sarah Hilton (pictured) a few months later. Both lawyers specialise in advising lenders, insolvency practitioners and company directors on a wide range of issues.
DLA Piper has expanded its City office with the hire of real estate partner Lorraine Reader. Reader joins from DWF, where she has been a partner since 2013. She specialises in advising developers, funds and investors on portfolio acquisitions across different asset classes.

J. Brugh Lower of Gibbons has entered an appearance for industrial equipment supplier Devco Corporation in a pending trademark infringement lawsuit. The suit, accusing the defendant of selling knock-off Graco products, was filed Dec. 18 in New Jersey District Court by Rivkin Radler on behalf of Graco Inc. and Graco Minnesota. The case, assigned to U.S. District Judge Zahid N. Quraishi, is 3:24-cv-11294, Graco Inc. et al v. Devco Corporation.

Rebecca Maller-Stein and Kent A. Yalowitz of Arnold & Porter Kaye Scholer have entered their appearances for Hanaco Venture Capital and its executives, Lior Prosor and David Frankel, in a pending securities lawsuit. The action, filed on Dec. 24 in New York Southern District Court by Zell, Aron & Co. on behalf of Goldeneye Advisors, accuses the defendants of negligently and fraudulently managing the plaintiff's $1 million investment. The case, assigned to U.S. District Judge Vernon S. Broderick, is 1:24-cv-09918, Goldeneye Advisors, LLC v. Hanaco Venture Capital, Ltd. et al.

Attorneys from A&O Shearman has stepped in as defense counsel for Toronto-Dominion Bank and other defendants in a pending securities class action. The suit, filed Dec. 11 in New York Southern District Court by Bleichmar Fonti & Auld, accuses the defendants of concealing the bank's 'pervasive' deficiencies in regards to its compliance with the Bank Secrecy Act and the quality of its anti-money laundering controls. The case, assigned to U.S. District Judge Arun Subramanian, is 1:24-cv-09445, Gonzalez v. The Toronto-Dominion Bank et al.

Crown Castle International, a Pennsylvania company providing shared communications infrastructure, has turned to Luke D. Wolf of Gordon Rees Scully Mansukhani to fend off a pending breach-of-contract lawsuit. The court action, filed Nov. 25 in Michigan Eastern District Court by Hooper Hathaway PC on behalf of The Town Residences LLC, accuses Crown Castle of failing to transfer approximately $30,000 in utility payments from T-Mobile in breach of a roof-top lease and assignment agreement. The case, assigned to U.S. District Judge Susan K. Declercq, is 2:24-cv-13131, The Town Residences LLC v. T-Mobile US, Inc. et al.

Wilfred P. Coronato and Daniel M. Schwartz of McCarter & English have stepped in as defense counsel to Electrolux Home Products Inc. in a pending product liability lawsuit. The court action, filed Nov. 26 in New York Eastern District Court by Poulos Lopiccolo PC and Nagel Rice LLP on behalf of David Stern, alleges that the defendant's refrigerators’ drawers and shelving repeatedly break and fall apart within months after purchase.
