Quinn Emanuel Urquhart & Sullivan's London office has continued to grow, increasing its revenue by 16% for the 2017-18 financial year.

Revenues at the US litigation specialist grew to £83.5m last year as it added an extra £11.6m to its top line, while profit jumped 12% to £59.2m.

Last year's growth slowed compared to the previous year's exponential financial success, when both the office's top line and profits surged by 61% to £71.9m and £52.6m respectively.

London co-managing partner Richard East (pictured) said: "To have achieved 16% revenue growth this year, on top of the 61% growth we had in 2018, was a fantastic performance. These results were testament to the hard work and application of the entire office."

The London base recently launched a patent litigation practice with the hire of Bird & Bird lawyer Alexandrine Ananou, after a long search for talent. East partly attributed that difficulty in hiring laterals to client conflict challenges connected to bluechip clients such as Samsung and Qualcomm.

Speaking to Legal Week at the time of Ananou's hire, East said the firm wants to grow beyond litigation roots in the City, with ambitions to add on specialisms in competition law and white-collar crime, as well as expanding its arbitration offering.
