K&L Gates has hired corporate partner Dale Araki from Morrison & Foerster in Tokyo.

Araki was senior of counsel at Morrison & Foerster, specialising in mergers and acquisitions related to Japan. He has represented foreign companies on joint ventures and business operations in Japan and worked on Japanese companies' overseas deals in the United States, China and other Asian markets.

Araki joined MoFo's Tokyo office in 2011 as a partner from O'Melveny & Myers, where he was also a Tokyo-based partner. He joined O'Melveny in 1986 out of Harvard Law School and became a partner in 1995. He served as office head at O'Melveny's Tokyo office until 2002.

Mergers and acquisitions partner Ryan Dwyer manages K&L Gates' Tokyo office, which has 11 partners. Last year, the firm recruited former Jones Day M&A counsel Dooyong Kang as a Tokyo partner. Former Jones Day of counsel Eric Sedlak also moved over in 2017 as a partner.
