Dentons has recruited two new partners to work out of its new Düsseldorf, Germany, office.

Lars Kutzner, who was at the European firm Noerr until April 1, specialises in advising clients on tax, commercial and white-collar criminal law, with a particular focus on tax compliance issues and prevention. Until 2015, he headed the tax and white-collar crime group at PwC Legal in Germany.

Florian Wiesner will join Dentons in May from Clifford Chance. He specialises in European and German competition law with a strong focus on M&A, joint ventures, cartels, compliance programmes, distribution and licensing arrangements. He advises clients from a wide range of industry sectors, with a special focus on the automotive, e-mobility and energy sector.

Dentons opened its Düsseldorf office in February of this year and said it plans to expand while establishing a full-service offering there. With the additions of Kutzner and Wiesner, Dentons' competition and antitrust team in Germany will have five partners.

"As Düsseldorf and the surrounding region are a major hub for foreign direct investment, there is an obvious need for strong cross-border transactional and regulatory advice," said Andreas Ziegenhagen, Dentons' Germany managing partner. "With the recruitment of Lars Kutzner and Florian Wiesner, we will now be able to cater for this need for advice on the competition and compliance aspects of domestic and international transactions."

Dentons currently has more than 200 lawyers across its four offices in Germany, and more than 9,900 lawyers in 175 locations globally.

The firm has announced the appointment of 25 new partners from the U.K. and Europe in the 2019 cycle. In Italy, Michele Odello and Barbara Urselli have been appointed as partners in the financial services area of the banking and finance practice and in the corporate M&A practice, respectively.
