Jones Day has hired former King & Wood Mallesons mergers and acquisitions partner Shannon Finch in Sydney.

Finch, who was with King & Wood Mallesons until December, focuses on capital markets transactions, public mergers, acquisitions, restructures, corporate governance, and listed entities and securities law.

In 2017, she represented Australian meat processor Bindaree Beef Pty. Ltd. on its sale of a majority stake to the family of Hong Kong-based billionaire Hui Wing Mau, who is the chairman of real estate developer Shimao Property Holdings Ltd., and to Beijing-based Archstone Investment Co. Ltd., in a deal worth between $79 million and $120 million, according to media reports.

Finch was a lifer at King & Wood Mallesons. She joined legacy Mallesons Stephen Jaques in 1994, made partner in 2004 and stayed through its 2012 merger with Chinese firm King & Wood. She also served as partner-in-charge of the Sydney office from 2010 to 2014.

Jones Day has been expanding in Australia in recent years, opening offices in Melbourne in January last year, Brisbane in 2016 and Perth in 2014. The U.S. firm recently recruited intellectual property partner Andrew Rankine in Sydney and energy and resources transactional partner Adam Conway in Perth, both from Ashurst.
