Slaughter and May has extended senior partner Steve Cooke's term for a further three years.

It will be his second term in the role. He was initially elected to the position in 2016 to serve a five-year term.

With the latest term secured, his tenure will now run until 2024.

Cooke joined Slaughter and May as a trainee in 1982, qualified in 1984 in Slaughter and May's New York office, and became partner in 1991 in London. Before being elected to senior partner, Cooke headed the M&A practice from 2001 to 2016.

Some of Cooke's major clients include FTSE 100 companies Aviva, Barratt Developments, BAT, Centrica, Diageo, International Airlines Group, and Rolls-Royce.

Cooke said in a statement: "I am delighted that the partnership has decided to extend my term until 2024.  I will continue to lead the firm while carrying on a significant level of client work. My focus will be on maintaining the strong relationships we enjoy with our clients and also building new ones for the benefit of the firm."
