Stephanie Hamon

A senior Barclays in-house lawyer who previously worked at Clifford Chance has left the bank, the institution has confirmed.

Stephanie Hamon, head of commercial management and managing director at the bank, has gone on gardening leave, with the intention of setting up her own consulting business in due course, according to a person with knowledge of the matter.

Beginning her role at Barclays in 2015, Hamon worked in conjunction with the group general counsel and chief of staff. Her role involved working closely with the bank's legal panel and delivering management strategy for its in-house legal department.

The person said Hamon is now aiming to launch a consulting business and is currently in negotiation stages.

Hamon has already made a name for herself in the legal market, formerly as head of business development in Clifford Chance's Hong Kong office for nearly three years from 2010. Before that, she was in the Magic Circle firm's Paris office, first as client relationship manager and then as director of strategy and business development.

Before moving to Barclays, Hamon was head of international business development and client service at King & Wood Mallesons.
