Perth Australia.

Squire Patton Boggs has hired Michael Swift as a partner in Perth from energy and resources boutique Allion Partners, where he headed the property practice group.

Swift specialises in advising public companies, sovereign funds, developers and government bodies on real estate, agribusiness and infrastructure projects, including transaction structuring, hotel developments and large-scale acquisitions and disposals.

He leaves Allion Partners after eight years with the firm; he served as principal-in-charge of the Perth office since 2016. Previously, Swift was a senior associate at legacy Blake Dawson and an associate at MinterEllison.

Squire Patton Boggs hired from Allion Partners for its Perth office in 2014, when it recruited the latter firm's former construction and infrastructure head Brendan Reilly and a four-lawyer team led by corporate partner Simon Rear; Reilly left Squire in December to launch his own practice Reilly IDR.

Swift's appointment helps cover the loss of Perth-based real estate and finance partner Carl Black, who left in January to join King & Wood Mallesons.

Squire Patton Boggs has 20 partners in Australia across Sydney, Perth and Darwin.
