Mayer Brown has hired Hogan Lovells litigator Ulrich Helm as a partner in Frankfurt, strengthening its litigation and dispute resolution practice.

Helm focuses on arbitration and litigation issues across a range of sectors, including infrastructure and plant-construction projects.

At Hogan Lovells, Helm was a partner in Frankfurt and head of the firm's German infrastructure, energy, resources and projects practice.

"We have gained an experienced litigation lawyer who will further enhance our advisory and adversarial capabilities," Dr. Guido Zeppenfeld, partner-in-charge of Mayer Brown's German offices, said in a statement.

Zeppenfeld said that strengthening the litigation and dispute resolution practice in Germany is a core strategic objective for Mayer Brown and reflects the firm's commitment to the expansion of its largest international practice.

"Ulrich's market-leading knowledge of the complex disputes that arise within infrastructure, resources and energy projects will complement and enhance both our local and global capabilities," Dr. Jan Kraayvanger, head of Mayer Brown's litigation and dispute resolution practice in Germany, stated. "He is a great addition to our team."

Helm said clients increasingly require cross-border litigation advice, particularly in relation to large industrial projects, and he was attracted to Mayer Brown because the firm offers the ideal platform for his practice.
