FTSE 100 water company Severn Trent has opened the tender process for its new legal panel, reviewing its roster for the first time in four years.

The panel will cover legal advice for all of the companies under the Severn Trent Group, including Severn Trent Water and Welsh counterpart Hafren Dyfrdwy.

The procurement is divided into three lots: legal services retainer for Severn Trent Water and Hafren; a legal services panel for Severn Trent Water and Hafren Dyfrdwy; and a legal services panel for other Severn Trent group companies.

The company currently operates under a sole legal adviser structure across five lots. Since 2010, Eversheds Sutherland has held this position, having been reappointed in 2012 for a further three years, then again in 2015 for a further five-year term.

The new panel will run for a term of three years and is valued at £8 million. The company is yet to confirm the number of law firms it will appoint.

The tender closes on July 24.

Last month, King's College London also opened the tender process for its first-ever legal panel, and Lloyds Bank kick-started the review of its legal advisers.

FTSE 100 utility giant National Grid is also due to overhaul its U.K. legal panel, putting its panel out to tender in February this year.
